Terms of service
Last updated: 7 September 2026
AskRock is an iPhone app, run by Jan Konieczny, contact: [email protected]. By installing the app you agree to these terms.
What AskRock does
Rock looks inside a file for the machine mark that AI providers put into their own output - C2PA, SynthID and similar. It checks whether such a mark is there. It doesn't judge writing style, doesn't guess the author and doesn't verify whether the content is true.
What the result does not mean
- A mark that was found means the file passed through an AI tool. It doesn't say who used it, or how much.
- No mark is not proof that a human made it. The mark often does not survive a screenshot, a conversion, an edit or a translation.
- The result is a hint, not evidence. Don't build an accusation, a school grade, a hiring decision or a court case on it. What you do with the result is on you.
Your account
The app runs on an anonymous account, and you can also sign in with Apple. The account is personal - you are responsible for what happens on it and you don't pass it on to anyone.
Subscription and payments
Some checks are free, further ones require a paid subscription. You see the price on the purchase screen before you confirm.
You buy the subscription in the App Store and Apple handles the payment. It renews on its own unless you turn it off at least 24 hours before the end of the period, in your App Store account settings - that is also where you cancel it. Refunds are handled by Apple under its own rules; I have no access to them. Prices may change, but only from the next period and after notice.
How you may use the app
For your own lawful purposes. Don't work around limits or payments, don't decompile the app, don't hit it with automated scripts and don't upload content you have no rights to.
The content you upload
It stays yours - I take no rights to it. I send it to a detection provider for the sole purpose of running the check; the privacy policy describes that. By uploading a file you confirm you are allowed to have it checked.
No warranties
The app is provided as it is. I don't promise that detection is complete, error-free or always available - it relies on third-party APIs, and those can change their rules or go down.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, I am not liable for indirect damage, lost profits or the consequences of decisions made on the basis of a check. This does not limit the rights you have as a consumer.
Suspension and termination
I may block an account that breaks these terms or works around the limits. You can stop using the app whenever you want - account deletion is handled by email.
Changes
I may change these terms, for example when a new feature or provider arrives. The new version appears here with a new date at the top.
Law and disputes
Polish law applies. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of your own country and you may use out-of-court dispute resolution available where you live.
